When building a sauna, installers typically look for a knotless cedar, or a thermally modified wood. Below are two different options we can offer if you are building a sauna.
A grade western red cedar- Grade A allows only slight imperfections. Typically knot free, and if there are any knots present, they are tight and do not compromise the look of the wood.

Lunawood thermally modified wood- The wood is heated to temperatures 413.6 degrees Fahrenheit in the absence of oxygen. This thermal modification alters the wood’s cellular structure, enhancing its stability, durability, and resistance to moisture, making it perfect for saunas.
